Russell holds both the Mountain Leader and the Walk Group Leader Qualifications.

Russell has walked extensively in the UK , from Kent and Cornwall in the South, to Scotland in the North. Long distance routes are a passion of Russell’s and his log of routes includes the Cleveland Way, the West Highland Way, the Great Glen Way and the Coast to Coast. He has also crossed Scotland , unsupported, from coast to coast twice.

Russell is also an active member of the local Mountain Rescue Team - Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team (www.srmrt.org.uk).

He has walked extensively in the North York Moors, the location for his courses and walks, and lives in Scarborough , at the gateway to the Moors.

Russell offers a range of courses on Walking and Navigation Skills, and also will provide guided walks. Russell has a number of set courses for both Walking and Navigation Skills. However, if these are not quite what you want, then Russell will be more than glad to tailor something to your requirements and needs. All of the courses are for a maximum of 4 people, to ensure that Russell can spend adequate time with each person, so they the most out of the course. Russell also provides one-to-one tuition on any aspect of walking and navigation, and he will happily design a training day just for you.

For all courses and walks you should wear your normal walking clothes including boots, and bring with you a full set of waterproofs, spare warm layers, food and drink, and a rucksack to put it all in. For navigation courses Russell will provide the maps.
